The Grand Tour

For decades the Sioux Peoples have been my friends,
and we shall begin our tour
in Mission, but who knows where our mission ends?
In winter one can’t be sure.
We’ll head west to Grand Junction, so very west
we’ll hear the waters roar,
and Nicholas, you will tense your youthful chest
to see the Rockies soar.
Then north to Grand Teton and Mont Moran,
north to Missoula in the snow,
and east to the Missouri’s fertile bottoms
I’ve hunted so many autumns,
then home to Fargo, where your Grand Tour began
so long and so far ago.
